one minute....
In my never ending quest to get this child to bed before the sun rises on the new day I find I am forever trying to find just the right thing to achieve this goal. (ok so I know I am the adult and she is the child, I know this...trust me it doesn't matter) Tonight as I searched for her to put her to bed I hear a voice from the darkness (well upstairs where no lights were turned on, so it qualifies as darkness) (of course she wouldn't turn lights on, why would she make it easy to be caught???) and what did that voice say to my called out of question of "Where are you Rosie it's time for bed?" followed soon after by a "hurry up let's go" and her reply? "one minute" sigh, I am going to go back to chanting "I am the adult" it won't help but it will make me feel better when it's quite apparent who the one is that runs the show.

Hannah Montana
They love Hannah Montana!
They know all the words to her songs, they stop what they are doing when they hear the opening score to the TV show....and they recognize any and all Hannah merchandise in any store we happen to be in, sigh! I "discovered" Hannah Montana quite by accident. I read about it on a blog of all places (I really don't watch enough TV to actually discover shows while they are airing) Someone had made a list of ten things for a challenge and one of those ten was "I get Hannah Montana" ummm I had no idea who she was let alone what there was to get. So I searched the university of Google and discovered just who Hannah Montana is. Ok so teenage singing sensation stopped me and had I not known that the post on the blog had been made by someone my age I would have definitely gone no further, but I found I was even more curious as to what a non teeny bopper would find appealing in a teenage pop sensation. I decided to give it a look see, and I've been hooked ever since. It is in a word hilarious! and bonus Billy Ray Cyrus is part of the show. Ok so I was one of those that actually enjoyed Achy Breaky Heart, what can I say? So watching Billy Ray Cyrus on a recurring TV show is certainly worth the 30 minute commitment :) Last night while trying to convince Rosie it was indeed time for bed, I put on an episode of the show. Yahaira who had fallen asleep by this time (I hadn't yet moved her to her bed) started singing along with the opening song (Great! I thought now I just managed to wake the one who was sleeping in my quest to get the other to sleep) but when I checked on her she was sound asleep :) Love this show, love that my little people and even one of my older people love this show...love sharing this connection with them.

He is the....
Luckiest 6 year old I know. Last spring at the end of school he brought home a slip reminding us to save the box tops for education over the summer. It also included a paper that he was suppose to fill out and return in the fall with his box tops. This slip would be put into a drawing for a prize once school began. Well as you can see he won! His name was chosen from all the returned slips, like I said he is the "luckiest" kid I know. He was so excited when he came home yesterday with this gift certificate.

Halloween lights....
Tonight we finished decorating the porch for Halloween. It is an activity I have to admit that
I haven't focused on too much in recent years. All in all I'm rather lazy when it comes to doing anything
outdoors when it's cold and rainy. But, with little people I find I'm doing things cuz it makes them happy.
They certainly were excited last night to see the lights and pumpkins on the porch. Thru the eyes of little people
life is pretty simple.
Buddy Walk 2007
Sunday we participated in the 2nd annual Buddy Walk in southern Minnesota.
It was held at the fairgrounds. It was a rainy, drippy day and fortunately
they decided to hold the walk inside. The kids had fun, the pinata was especially fun.
So cool to get together with friends and family to support such a worthwhile event.

Her current...
Pickin' Pumpkins...
We stopped at an apple stand on our
way to Mankato yesterday. Naturally
we picked up some apples but the array
of pumpkins certainly caught the kids eyes
and we added a few pumpkins to our
purchase as well. The "rule" of pumpkin
picking is simply this "you have to be able to carry
your pumpkin to the van" Rosie apparent didn't
catch that rule, since she inevitable headed to the
biggest and fatest pumpkins she could find. Honestly
I don't think I would have been able to carry
most to the van. After a bit of pondering, (by Rosie)
we did settle on the perfect pumpkins. Currently
they are hanging out in the garage I will post pics
once we get them out on the porch.

Post it notes
My life is post it notes. It is how I keep track of who should
be where. It is how I remind myself of things to do. It
is what allows my life to run at a smooth speed. The picture
above is of one of my calendars (I have three) this is a
sampling of one week in our lives. Usually we stay on course.
Unless the 2 and 3 year old decide that moving the notes is
of greatest importance. (not sure why you would have to ask them)
then life just gets wonky.

Got Milk
This would be another Rosie moment (just for you Beckie) It is common that when she wants milk she will bring the milk jug right to you, often she brings a glass along just to speed up the request. Last night she apparently got tired of waiting for a response to her request and simply took matters into her own hands. See last picture, that would be Goldie in the top picture behind Rosie cleaning up the spilled milk. The child has it made, she creates messes and as long as they involve food (which they inevitable do) the dog takes care of clean up.

fire prevention week
Each year when we do this I am once
again reminded of how little people view
the world around them. The first year,
I thought this is a good thing, have a firemen
give a little speech on fire safety, kids will be
wowed, it would be a fireman after all..I learned
much to my horror how completely terrified they
were once this ordinary man put on all that gear.
I realized that telling kids fireman are safe and will
protect is no comparison to the scary thing they
would observe in a fire. I had no idea how they would
view it. So now the annual visit by our local fire
department is so important because now I know
what a child's view would be. Love that our fire
department offers this, love their commitment and
dedication to this service they voluntarily provide.

Candy Corn
Candy corn is my favorite fall/Halloween treat. Of course you can buy it year round but for some reason it never tastes the same in July as it does in October. Imagine my excitement when I found these....adorable aren't they?
So the girls are still too little to realize they are being dressed like a candy...and apart from the fact that they were thrown a bit by the poncho part of the outfit (they just couldn't figure out where to put their arms) they have enjoyed wearing their candy corn poncho and hat. Too cute!
So imagine the excitement the discovery of these generated.....
yes those would be Hershey's kisses in candy corn flavor...pretty cool if you ask me.
Life is good, especially when it's wrapped in layers of orange, yellow and white.

lip gloss...
Beckie gave this to her on Sunday. Thanks Beckie! To say she was super excited would certainly be an understatement. She has been practicing her technique ever since we returned home.
"See mom?" is what I hear "I look beautiful!" Yes she does. Love how that little mind works, love the joy she finds in the simplest of things, simply love this little person.

sunday school
Yahaira began Sunday School this fall, she had reached that magic age of "3" when you are suddenly old enough to do many things. Yesterday she received her bible during church. She was excited to say the least. We sat in the front, something that has rarely if ever happened, it went rather well, all things considering.
