she sleeps

and some nights I have to admit I am so stinkin' happy
that for this moment the little wonder has paused.
this would be her favorite place...a book or two or three by her side
her socks that she insists she has to wear tossed aside as soon as her toes become to warm
her blanket always nearby and always snuggled in my spot

i am optimistic

that some day I will actually read these books stacked on my night stand

colors of fall...

in my yard today...those bursts of color made this grey, rainy day a bit brighter.

sweater weather....

a find on facebook, a page listing things for sale locally, sorta like a garage sale but online...
this popped up today and I knew it would be perfect for this three year old...she reluctantly agreed to pause for photos, the glass of milk with a straw was a bribe, sometimes I roll like that.

thinking...

the maid should be fired...
or at the very least this is taking decorating for halloween  to a bit of an extreme
my house will never win awards for spotless clean...I'm okay with that
their are always fingerprints, and lately lip prints on the windows (that three years old has decided kissing the windows is important)  the floor usually has scraps and dirt, (I do miss goldie who kept the floor scrap free) I'd rather not think about what is under the beds.  I imagine there will be a day when I
have plenty of time to clean...until then I think I will just enjoy my little ones while they are still little

the scents of fall

are filling my home these days...
and with the arrival of that box above the smells have moved to downright awesome...

perhaps, hands down my favorite scent right now...

and these are taking their turn filling the air with the amazing aromas of fall

trail mix

a hit with those little ones that fill my house
using bits of leftover cereal, dried fruit, and m&m's
simple
my  motto these days...just keep it simple

new dishes....

the first time I saw these dishes I was newly married
and had cupboards full of new stuff.  I could hardly justify purchasing
new dishes when the "new" dishes had hardly been used.
Oh but I loved those fiesta dishes, the colors, the simple design.
Life moved on and those original dishes, (corel I think) were replaced
not with the dishes I had loved for so long but instead with a
more budget friendly set that were similar.(oh they worked just fine but I still drooled over those Fiesta dishes everytime I found myself in that deaprtment)  Move forward to this weekend and
the search for smaller plates, that were not plastic.  My move to remove plastic is not just limited to what I store our food in.  A visit to herberger's, with a look see approach.  This discovery of a sale
equaling more than half of each set, yes more than half..along with another coupon taking another percentage off had me happy dancing on the inside and outside.  So I took a deep breath and analyzed
(oh I do that to a fault) and couldn't find a single reason why this wasn't a very budget friendly purchase...I do love when my brain can only tick off why this works it is a rare thing indeed.

and so colors were chose, not because they neccessarily went together but they just made me happy or connected with someone, the pink above is called flamingo a nod to beckie's love of flamingos since well , forever. purple because rosie loves anything and everything purple and so it went
my intent was not to have all one color, that would just have been too dull for my taste
but to just pull together a set that matched us

this is what I see when I open the cupboard
so much happy energy

fall csa

wedenesday began the fall share for our csa from a local farmer.
I had decided to not sign up for the summer, thinking we would be able to grow
our own.  A very dry summer and some not so awesome growth left us with just a little
fresh veggies for the summer, so I decided that we were going to be a part of the fall
csa and that no matter what next summers too.

do you see all that yummy produce?
reyna was beside herself excited when she saw the raspberries
she is my berry girl.  I also signed up for a bread share which will bring us
bread each week..this week was biscuits
(they made their way into to chicken and biscuits the very next day)
Another new feature this year is the opportunity to purchase grass fed beef and pasture raised chickens from another local farmer..soon this could be a one stop shopping venture for us.  Love that whole simple approach.

stuffing enevelopes....

kept reyna busy for quite some time the other day.
this is what I discovered after she had moved on to other activites (i hesitate to say destructive tendencies although I am thinking it)
a drawer overflowing with envelopes...usually they are stacked neatly in their place in the drawer, my brain works like that.  I looked around for the little wonder and of course she was no where to be found so I gathered the envelopes together quickly discovering that each was filled...

with thumb tacks
why?  truly she is three I've stopped trying to figure it out.
I will guess that they were conviently located next to the envelopes and that she isn't simply practicing to be  a threat to society by using the us postal service.

play dough

they love play dough...it is the most requested thing to play with in our home.
Sunday I mixed up a few batches, this time scenting them for a different experience..
yahaira and reyna were hands on, helping every step of the way, even kneading the hot from the pan dough.  There was a lot of excitement monday when the "new" play dough was discovered...
