Did you know....

You can grow a pizza in a garden?
The kids are so excited by these two
container gardens...simple because of
the names I think. They can't wait until
the vegetables begin to grow and we
can actually make salsa from the
ingredients and pizza sauce. I fear if these
gardens don't make it, it will simply be due
to too much love. Ok Kelly this and all
other posts today are for you...you asked
(a long while ago) for pictures of all
my garden spots, so today I finally deliver.
Enjoy!

a few more...

containers...love how the lights look at night, and
the colorful pots and containers. So far everything
is doing well, amazingly well. The bottom pic is the new
location for the sandbox...a much happier solution to
little toes and bodies that are incredible tough on grass.

Vegetables...

The top two photos are all the containers which
currently have vegetables growing in them..due
to my lack of space to put an actual garden in this
year we decided to try containers...a wonderful
solution. The bottom photo is a work in progress, this
is where the sand box used to sit, but naturally all
the grass was killed by those little feet so we planted
grass and sweetcorn...I know why sweet corn? Well
I saw this really awesome idea of planting sunflowers
to make a hut for kids to play inside...thinking with my
crew sunflowers would never hold up...I switched it out
for corn...durable and an added bonus come fall I will
have my corn stalks. Sometimes I just simply amaze
myself with the ideas I come up with. I will post more
photos as the summer progresses to share the growth
of our little play hut.

Containers...

Scattered throughout my yard are many plants,
housed in containers...the top photo is a mixture of
vegetables and flowers, this is in the daycare area
and receives a lot of attention and love (perhaps not
the kind required of these plants but all in all they
appear to be doing well) In the middle is a hodgepodge
of flowers and herbs, the lantern is a solar light and at night
it casts a soft light over this area and the bottom photo is
my weathered and worn bench which sits under the apple
tree one of Yahaira's favorite places to be.

flowers...

Some of these are established plants...who have
survived years of my neglect. Love the lilacs that
grow on the west side of my house. Love that
these plants require so very little care from me.

Fruit patches....

The top photo is the raspberry patch, red and black.
also towards the end of the house are grape plants,
near the trellis. The middle picture is of the blue-
berry plants, you have to squint and look close to see
them. The last photo is the strawberry patch. We
will have a veritable fruit market when all are ready
to be picked.

Loving how this came to gether...love sitting out here
in the evenings...last night Rosie and I sat outside
for quite awhile listening to the rain.

playing in the grass...

I know the bottom pic is a bit blurry and out of
focus, but I simply love watching Rosie run. Her
little legs do triple time in order to keep up with
her big sister....so love how that little body moves
as she runs...so love the excitement and joy she
finds in the simplest things...just so love that little
girl!

Senior recognition

at church was Sunday, May 20th. I realize I'm a
bit behind in posting, (which is why I am playing catch
up today) I think it would be fair to say that
weekend was a bit crazy for us. We are well into
the countdown for the end of Cassandra's Senior year.
Her last day of classes was last Friday. Today was the
class picture at the football field, along with the
announcement of Senior Hall of Fame. She was voted the
quietest, imagine that :) Tomorrow is Baccalaureate service.
Thursday is practice for graduation. Friday and Saturday
will just simply be insane and Sunday is the big day. How did
this happen? Perhaps when things aren't so busy/crazy I
will actually be able to analyze that.

Anthony's graduation from preschool.

Wednesday was Anthony's last day of
preschool at Mrs. Malmgrens. That
evening we attended his year end program
where he received his certificate. I think
he will miss seeing his friends over the summer.
Next fall he will start Kindergarten.

Memorial Day

We celebrated Memorial Day by attending the ceremony
at Memorial Park. The kids loved watching the plane fly over
the lake. Hope your holiday was fun and relaxing.

Balloons...

She fell asleep the other day holding onto
this balloon from her birthday. What
is it about balloons that just make little
kids happy?

Happy Birthday Grace!

Gracie turned 6 on Sunday, so hard to believe that she is 6 already. What an amazing young lady she is becoming. Love hanging out with her, love her view on life. She truly makes being an aunt a wonderful thing!
