food

it was quite simple to figure out the menu for this party
we just served the foods from the story of The Very Hungrey Caterpillar

no one in our house has ever eaten one of thsoe big lollipops
so I asked Candace if she could make cookies decorated to look like
lollipops...so many thought they were actually lollipops.

the cake was made by Candace who wowed everyone!
it was perfect and the details were amazing.
Reyna  loved it!

She ran....

her first marathon today...
three  years ago she ran a 3k and almost didn't finish, I thought that she was done with running, but no
she did another and then tried a 4k, next up was a 1/2 marathon 1st in Fargo, and then last fall in Mankato.
Soon after she declared she was running a full marathon, I thought she was nuts.
But she stuck with it, determined to do this, to challenge herself and to simply complete what
she started (I admire that about her)
This morning at 8:15 she started, this morning at 8:15 I tried not to worry, frequently checked her progress on my phone, cheered, worried and prayed
5 hours and 31 minutes after she started she crossed the finish line, doing exactly what she said she was going to do, she ran a marathon!
She is amazing!

with her cheering squad....Kevin bike the route with her...
Beckie and Lacie ran with her a couple of time bringing her bananas, water,
and energy bars they were there when she crossed the finish line

her medal...

she definately did "rock it"

her cheering squad at home
so excited and happy to see her

the route she ran, with her times...
so very proud of this kid
she is amazing!

a new home...

for our strawberry patch...
our first patch was located in this area of our yard, it yeiled awesome berries each season..
then we decided to add onto our home and the patch had to be moved..
the new location did so, so in producing strawberries but never as good as where it
had been before..so this year we decided to move them back to that area and see what happens
we decided to try a raised bed this time...Josh and kevin built it today and the kids helped kevin fill it with
dirt tonight, and finally we transplanted the berry plants to this their new home...hopefully they will do
better in this location.  There are a lot of strawberry loving kids hoping they do too.

s'mores

last night the kids made s'mores
it seems that when ever the fire pit is going it just means there
is going to be s'mores...
a nice night to sit by a fire..
a nice reminder of the season soon upon us...when nights around a fire are common
looking forward to many more s'more nights this summer
