I had to pause when I handed her the camera and remember just which button to push it has been so long since I picked it up to snap a photo or two. .....she on the other hand had no trouble pushing the button to capture picture after picture.

krumkake

after a disastrous attempt last year to make krumkake
I took my aunt's suggestion to heart and purchased an electric krumkake iron
since cooking on an electric stove with the old school iron was much of the disaster in last years equation.  It arrived the other day.  Now I'm just waiting for a weekend with a few free hours so we can break in our new krumkake iron.

 25 years ago you arrived with the first snowfall of the season,you were the last child (well we believed you were the last) and I admit I thought I knew what I was doing and fairly confident in this parenting thing... you were early and all of our plans were tossed aside as we quickly learned the beauty of plan b. One could reason that we should have realized then just how different life was going to be, but it took us a few years to fully grasp that concept. When we were in a hurry...you slowed us down. When we got stuck on the big picture....you pointed out the small things. When life swirled in a crazy way...you quietly reminded us to breathe. You are strong, beautiful, forgiving, amazing. Every year when I get to tell you happy birthday it is a simple reminder to me how much I learn from you and what a gift you are in my life.

winner!
at Los Potros restraunt here in town
she placed 2nd
but won the 1st place prize
(the owners son placed 1st so she passed it on to the next person)
her prize? a 50 gift card
she wasn't so sure about that costume..
people are going to laugh at me, I will look stupid and on and on it went
I assured her it would be fine and that stubborn part of me wanted them to go
as a theme this year, not to mention all the duct tape and sweat that costume generated.
after she won..... her response?
This is the best costume ever!!!!
