from the animals that roam about the store, to the amazing selection of books,
to the enchanting decor...adds up to a place one could get lost in

rail road days parade

we had arrived home earlier in the afternoon from rochester where we had said our final good byes to betty and began to process that emptiness in our hearts...
it seems that life doesn't pause and we were quickly switiching into to parade mode getting several kids ready to be a part of this float, or band... Once all the kids were delivered to their spots
we headed to our spot to view the parade and within moments it down poured, continuing to rain even as the parade made it's way past us. 
This will certainly be a parade none of us will forget for a long, long time.

God places people in our lives and at the time you don't realize the impact or gift they will be. Over 30 years ago I met betty, in time she became my mother in law, friend, teacher, inspiration. She was strong, fiercely independent, stubborn, beautiful.This morning betty passed away and with much sadness our family said goodbye. Thank you Betty for filling my heart with stories, memories, moments, love. I wasn't ready to say good bye I still had so much more to learn from you.

an unexpected weekend away

 

 

 

we spent last weekend in Rochester, Betty had been transferred to St. Mary's and was waiting to have heart surgery.  The kids and I spent a lot of time at the hotel in the pool, while Kevin stayed with his mom at the hospital... It was the first time I had actually been to Rochester other than just passing through, what a beautiful city...just wishing circumstances had been different than what brought us there.

Graduation

Earlier this month I attended the graduation ceremony at our local high school  two of my former daycare kids graduated along with rose who has spent two weekends a month with us for the last 9 years.
What a wonderful ceremony so proud of these young ladies can't wait to see what next they do
