Cheese Factory

One must see place on this vacation was a cheese factory. We were in Wisconsin after all home of all things cheese or so they say.  Friday we found one. Where the kids spent a long time viewing the cheese making from the observation window  naturally there was a gift store so we purchased some cheese to enjoy as we traveled

Happy Birthday Rosie!

She has been counting the days until her birthday.  Turning six is a huge deal...huge!
She began her birthday in Michigan and ended her day in Wisconsin. A free slice of pie at perkins, where we ate dinner topped the day off perfectly.

Ships

Big ships coming and going. Today we have watched two cargo ships arrive and depart. The first rendered the kids silent. They couldn't believe how huge they were. The one  departing we watched from our balcony, our hotel is right next to the harbor entrance  again dome very entertained little ones.

Vista Star

Harbor cruise

My family wanted to ride on a boat.
I managed  to distract them for days
Today my luck ran out

This morning we boarded the Vista Star for a two hour cruise of Lake Superior. I silently chanted the boat won't sink and did some deep breathing. While my little ones bounced with joy. Taking in the beautiful sites.  (Laugh if you must but that two hour cruise for Gilligan and company didn't go so well if I recall)  did I mention I sat on the bench that held the life vests?  Just in case you understand. They loved it. Thought it was cool to be waaaayy out on the water (insert more deep breathing)
Loved that they ship had a snack shop.  Their calls of "look mom!" Were music to my ears and the smiles were worth it.  Looking to the horizon as one suggested seemed to help at times keeping my eyes close while chanting did too :)

Moments

With Reyna.
Vacation is tuff on little ones their schedules are messed up nothing is familiar. She has done amazingly well on this trip.
I laughed when I found her curled up under the desk sleeping. Finding a quiet space when your family is so big is almost impossible.  Feeding her when an excursion takes to long has saved my sanity. I figure she is so tiny and a little bit of junk won't hurt
Love seeing things thru her eyes as she discovers these new surroundings she adds an energy to this trip that only a two year old could

Fireworks

We had planned to watch from Bayfront park. But kids altered those plans. We started out by the DECC center but soon headed back to the hotel with two sleepy kids and one very cranky two year old   the fireworks began when we were about midway back so we paused to watch with what turned out to be a perfect viewing area. Reyna soon grew antsy and we headed back to the hotel watching the grand finaly from the hotel parking lot. Which is where I snapped those photos

Playing in the shoe house was a hit. Anthony enjoyed building tunnels and ramps into a route to race bouncy balls down   a tree with a hidden staircase took you to the second level  a great kid friendly place

Lake superior

Can we swim in it?

It's very cold.

Can we walk in it?

Sure.

This conversation was repeated countless times from their first glimpse until we finally got checked into our hotel and went for a walk.
The girls waded right in Anthony preferred to skip stones. Reyna picked up rocks and dropped them in the water. Soon rosie was in past her waist."aren't you cold" I asked."nope" was her reply.  This child is fearless
