Homecoming coronation...
Wednesday was coronation for homecoming kind and queen.
Rose has been walking on clouds since the announcement of king and queen candidates a few weeks ago
since she lives in madelia and the week of homecoming required a lot more from her she stayed with us during the week (a change from the weekends she spends with us but the kids loved having her)
She loves homecoming, listing it as her favorite school event...so it seemed fitting (her classmates thought so too, when they chose to vote her in as a candidate) that she be part of one of the most visible parts of homecoming festivities...she has lived this week in a manor that we all should approach life with...
to enjoy the moment, to be in the moment, to capture others and share the joy of this moment...
you may not have walked away with the crown Rose but you certainly walked beautifully this week.
heart shaped potato chips
Kinderready preschool
her first day
of preschool....came a week after the older kids started school
and so we started the traditional pose by the tree photo
adding nature
back into our play space...
as seems to be the norm when I make a request
(that are you nuts? look I get so often)
this request generated a bit more ...you want what???
to do what??? seriously?
but with some persistence I did find someone willing to help me
attain some logs, and cut them to size for me.
Gotta love neighbors :)
and those little wonders have proven that indeed this was a very good idea as
they gravitate towards that circle of wood logs, sitting on them kneeling beside them, walking along them, around them, using them all throughout their day.
we can never have enough nature in our play space...

happy birthday anthony....
1st day of school

and that youngest not wanting to be left out took yahaira's sign and posed for
the first day of school picture...in her pj's of course.
wondering if next week when we take her first day of preschool photo she will be so willing to
pose?
those signs were found here
Godahl days...
every labor day the tiny town (and I do mean tiny) of Godahl holds a labor day celebration
complete with parade, food, baseball and polka music.
After spending our summer in godahl with baseball and softball we were recruited to help out in vaious food stands throughout the day...
Anthony, yahaira, and rosie were in the parade with their teams...throwing candy is almost as much fun as watching the parade according to yahaira.
at one point all my kids big and little were there love when those moments happen.
once in a blue moon
friday was that rather rare event a blue moon...
the last time it happened was new years eve 2009, the next time will be in 2015
our first attempt to view the moon was a dissppointment no moon thanks to some cloud cover
later those still awake ventured out to take a peek...we saw the moon
but it looked more white than blue leaving some to wonder what the big deal was all about...
naturally I snapped a picture just to say we were there...
entrance conferences...
Mrs Meyer Anthony's 5th grade teaacher...
I walked in and stated that I was going back to 5th grade.
the whole feel of the room was fun, inviting, and exciting
how can you not want to learn in an enviroment like that???
(yahaira had Mrs. Meyer in Kindergarten so we already knew she is an outstanding teacher)
Yahaira's 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Bottem
(josh had Mrs Bottem when he was in 3rd grade, when I told Yahaira this she said
"josh was in 3rd grade?" I think it's hard for these little ones to picture the older kids as young once)
Rosie's 1st grade teacher Mrs. Krech
(Cassandra had Mrs. Krech in 4th grade, so excited that Rosie is going to spend a year in her classroom she is the perfect match for this creative, energetic, loving 7 year old of mine)
This year the early entrance conferences were changed out a bit, we took care of all paperwork for all departments, in the past that came home over the week school started. I liked getting it all done at one time.
School pictures were also done at this time, loved that! and of course we met teachers and checked out classrooms...so ready for this school year to begin, and actually so are the kids.
Freezer meals
to this in 7 hours of cooking
22 meals in the freezer for those busy back to school nights.
I love the convience of having a meal ready to go in the freezer
I have frequently used different companies to go and prepare meals in a few hours
coming home with a freezer worth of food for the month...I have often thought about just doing it myself
and finally last weekend I gave it a try. I did spend a lot more time preparing and cooking,
thinking that time could be lowered once i get use to the process
I loved that I knew what went into these recipe's
definately planning to do this again next month.
