Class of 2028
The class of 2028
The first of what will be a yearly photo captured at the end of the school year.
She is 7 in this photo. No longer a Kindergartener she reminds me often. In 12 years when we take the final picture she will be a Senior. A Senior!
Filled with excitement to be completing her high school years. She will have years of memories, moments and milestones to look back on all of which have shaped and made her the person she is. I imagine there will be glimpses of the little girl in this first photo in that final photo. That smile and own the world stance. She held up the shirt and looked at me skeptically "do you really think this is going to fit me someday?" She asked. "I'm going to need to be as tall as Cassandra" she said doubtfully. "You got a few years" I reminded her. "12 years is going to be forever" she says. And to her 7 year old self it is truth, her momma knows tho that it only takes a blink and there she will be standing tall and proud a Senior in the class of 2028.

Unexpectedly
Unexpectedly this happened tonight....one called to say she was coming home today, another arrived to help grill dinner and then the oldest walked in bringing the number of kids under our roof to eight once again. It's only for the night, but I will enjoy this unexpected pause in our busy lives that brought all of us together tonight.

These baby birds
These are the baby birds
inside the nest
built in the hanging flower basket
my sister gave me for my birthday
which started out beautiful but is now looking grim.
due to lack of watering
Since watering the plant would disturb the nest with the baby birds...my kids have explained countless times. They have watched the nest since discovering it existed waiting for the eggs to hatch and now watching the babies grow. I don't know if the plant will make it but I do know the memories they are making watching nature happen up close will last for a lifetime.
Swimming lessons
Began two weeks ago. Everyday at the outdoor pool. The first two days were crazy cold and she shivered the whole way home with the beat blasting. Two daycare kids go at the same time so there is this little Troup heading out each day, so cute and fun to see.
Today was the last day and she passed and is ready for level three next year.
