those grapes I picked awhile back have been hanging out in the refrigerator
I had intended to do something with them
leaning towards grape jelly
but then I searched for the how to directions online and decided that perhaps
that wasn't the route to go
12 easy steps
(which the recipe I found touted)
seemed like 10 steps too many
so I ignored them
(I know so adult of me)
thinking that perhaps the house fairy would turn them into jelly
with a poof or some fairy dust, or something
yesterday Kevin came in caring the bowls of grapes
"these are going to spoil if we don't do something with them"
guess that was my sign to dust off my fairy wings and get to work
so I re-googled the recipe
sigh
and started with step 2
(having completed step 1 when I picked them)
kevin made a run to the store for pectin
(the first of several trips to the store it would seem)
to say this was unorganzied would be hitting it right on the spot
and I don't do unorganized one bit
sigh
next came math
and reading the recipe again and again
(thank goodness for pictures)
this above item was another store run
since apprently one needs to strain those grapes
so strain we did
and then added the pectin
*note when recipe says to stir constantly one should do that
just saying
since not watching it closely will result in the hot sticky grape goo boiling over
and setting off smoke detectors
not once........but twice
(I am only responsible for one of those alarm set offs)
smoke alarms and children are not conducive to a calm enviroment
sticky grape goo boild onto your stove top sucks
sticky grape goo trailed across your kitchen floor is evil
I think we will still be sticking to places on that floor by next years grape harvest
eventually we reached this place
9 jars of grape jelly
now that is a beautiful sight
and as I listened to the pop of lids sealing throughout the afternoon
it did make me smile
and when I sampled it later in the evening
it was good, oh my was it good
but seriously does it have to be so darn complicated in the process???
