the 4th of July...

and that can only mean 1 thing, time for the annual 4th of July family picture wearing our flag shirts from Old Navy. A tradition began in 1999. Each year we get together to snap a picture or two, the color of the shirts change and in recent years the number of faces in the picture has increased. Love looking thru the album that I keep just these pics in, seeing how we have changed over time.

July 4th, 2007

a glimpse into our day yesterday. We started with a picnic at our house. Later in the afternoon we headed to the park to take in the concert. Eventually ending up at the lake to watch the annual fireworks display. A beautiful day, warm, but after the short rainshower in the afternoon it cooled to a comfortable evening. After the fireworks we set up a tv, and dvd player outside and watched a movie. With the fire pit going it was the great way to end a totally fun day!

water fight....

no summer get together is complete without a water fight. Anthony could barely lift the water gun the Piercy's brought. Rosie had to have help from Josh. Cassandra was quite resourceful and just grabbed the hose. Lot's of wet fun ensued.

waiting for fireworks....

As the sun set the kids got more and more excited for the fireworks to begin. Across the lake they could see some fireworks being set off in someone's yard. Loved seeing there excited faces. When the fireworks show began Rosie just about jumped out of her skin it startled her so much. Yahaira fell asleep just moments into the show. Loved hearing their wows! and excitement as they watched the show in the night sky.

weekend at beckie's

We spent this past weekend in Moorhead visiting Beckie. I left Thursday after work arriving in Moorhead around 11. Long drive very long drive. The kids loved swimming in the hotel pool and hanging out with Beckie. So fun to get away and just relax for awhile. So great to see Beckie and spend time with her. The kids are already asking when we are going to go back to see Beckie again. They had a wonderful time!

blue slushies

the kids had blue slushies with their meal, it quickly became a competition as to who could achieve the bluest tongue. Beckie soon joined in drinking from the little ones slushies trying to out do them. Lot's of giggles and laughter followed.

space aliens

We ate dinner at this restaurant Friday night. Totally a kid place. The game arcade won major points in the fun
category.

another fun place we visited. Kids loved the train ride. It was a fun filled place with a new discovery around every corner.
Loved the hands on approach and the kid friendly atmosphere.

red river zoo

It seems whenever I travel with kids we usually end up at a zoo at one point or another.
This zoo was located in Fargo, it was great fun! I liked that it was smaller in size, not so
overwhelming with this age group. Kids had a fun time exploring and playing.

Firefly's

We seem to have an abundance of firefly's this summer. Last night the kids and I once again sat outside at dusk and watched them appear. So exciting. Loved hearing their giggles and laughter when they first spotted one. I read them the story "The Very Lonely Firefly" by Eric Carle before we went out to watch the show. Love that book, love the magical "surprise" at the end of the story. I've already been asked if we can stay up to watch the firefly's again tonight. Ummmmm wondering if it's a way to get out of going to bed or perhaps it just simply was fun last night and they are eager to do it again. Do you have a lot of firefly's in your neighborhood? Have you watched them yet? I suggest you find a little person to watch the show with and enjoy the excitement.

Railroad Days Parade...

Rosie figured out the whole candy thing, it was hilarious watching her run to pick up her one piece of candy. By the time she picked up one all the other candy had been picked by the other kids...being speedy isn't quite her skill just yet. She would pick up the candy and hold it up to me and just grin. So excited, so very very excited. We sat next to a 92 year old women and her daughter, who was quite concerned that I was there alone with 7 kids, she assured me not to worry they would be happy to help me out, I had a brief moment where I simply hoped I wouldn't have to help her out :) It was a beautiful night, and a great parade. The kids had a lot of fun and naturally were super excited by the time it was over, it may have been the candy? ummmmm something to ponder.

Pony rides...

One of the attractions at Railroad days this year was pony rides. Yahaira was super excited to do this, you could barely contain her giddiness. All three loved the experience and wanted to go again and again.

A tour of New York city....

We spent an incredible 5 days in one of the most amazing cities on earth.
The sites, the sounds, the overload to your senses, the smells, the people....
combined to make it a trip full of energy, excitement and memories
Above is the most energetic place in the city... Time Square
simply wow!
Central Park
an oasis in the middle of chaos. So fun to roam and explore.
So easy to forget you were in the middle of city full of millions of people.
