Cassandra's Birthday!

Sunday we celebrated Cassandra's 20th Birthday.
Her only request this year was a cake from coldstone creamery...good thing her birthday is in November and transporting an ice cream cake is actually something one can do at this time of the year. I found myself stumbling over her age when someone asked, apparently having my baby turn 2o was just a bit more than my brain was ready to admit to. When did she grow up? and reallywho said she could??
We also celebrated Brandon's birthday, the little ones were loving the fact that they had a choice of two cakes last night, life is good.

Wicked
I had purchased tickets to this for the girls for their birthdays back in June. Yesterday was the day, we headed out with snow and wind and the hope that the roads would improve. We took the light rail to the theater district, (driving in downtown Minneapolis is something I can do, but I love the option of riding the train.) We ate at Applebees and then walked to the Orpheum. Found our seats way up in the upper, upper balcony. I wasn't too sure about this play. Cassandra had been the one who had been excited about it's arrival in the metro area. So glad she insisted, it was unbelievable! Loved the story, loved the music, the voices were amazing. Three hours passed in a blink. I love how the story wove itself into the wizard of oz story. What a great time, perhaps this will become a yearly outing?
Loved spending time with my older girls, something that doesn't happen often enough.

8 on the 8th

November's 8 photos.
yes that is snow you see in the monthly bird feeder photo, sigh I guess it was inevitable.
a breakfast photo...cheerios rock!
the girls checking to see if the snow was still there. Rosie pretty much spent all of Friday in that position...to say she was excited about the snow would be a bit of an understatement. The kids have discovered watching the Peanuts. That would be what I paid for gas yesterday. yes under $2 how amazing is that? Cassandra, Beckie and I saw Wicked at the Orpheum...it was simply unbelievable!

I voted!
I hope you did too.
Anthony voted in school today, when I asked how he read the ballot he looked confused. So I asked how did you know who to vote for and then he explained you chose the picture for the candidate you wanted to vote for and then placed an X next to the photo. Ahhhhh simple in it's finest form. This year was Cassandra's first year voting. Wishing I could have been there with her, but she voted at school. Linette did drive her to the polling location so at least someone from our family was with her. She was very excited about finally being able to vote. Josh is home today, so he could vote, he joined me and the little ones. Rosie thought we were going boating. Yahaira was extremely upset that she didn't get her own paper to write on, and yes all three did fit in that little booth with me and watched carefully as I filled in each circle. So exciting to be a part of this voting process, no matter the outcome it's going to historic.

this is what I found
when I opened the refrigerator yesterday morning.
The ziplock bag with the remainder of a candy bracelet.
Apparently Rosie felt it was necessary to preserve it for the next day.
Rather ingenious of her to do this all by herself.
I should just be thankful that it isn't something she collected outside that she decided to preserve in my refrigerator.
This one keeps life interesting.
Halloween 2008

a beautiful night for trick or treating.
warm, no need for layers upon layers.
perfect.
This year they all three got it. Enjoying the running up to the door
and yelling "Trick or Treat!"
Rosie lasted for about an 1 1/2 and then fell asleep in her car seat.
10 minutes after we arrived home she awoke and was certainly charged.
A 10 minute power nap combined with a wee bit of candy consumption equaled one very awake little wonder.
