way more fun to play in the bin with all the empty eggs than to play with any of the toys in the toy room.

Easter Egg Hunt....

today was the annual egg hunt for the daycare.... after the snow covered ground yesterday I wondered what today's hunt would bring it seems more often than not we deal with snow... but this year no snow, little mud and just some chilly temps were all we dealt with which counts as a successful day the egg hunters were determined this year filling their baskets and bags with record speed.

Happy Spring

or not. it seems winter isn't quite ready to let go....

filling eggs...

every year that bin of eggs waits to be filled. every year I put it off, until time just slips away. it is a lot of eggs. once we start of course it's fun and laughter filled this was Reyna's first year of "helping" which means she ate the candy and played in the egg bin.

the whole over the shoulder look just to make sure nothing has moved in too close just cracks me up the tenative touch or look just to make sure they aren't going to take a bite the play of emotions across a face that isn't quite sure what to think about this new experience just some of the reasons I love doing this annual picture shoot each Easter.

Easter Pictures

an annual tradition each year Nichole has bunnies and chicks and each year we arrive to capture a photo or two... and each year one child or another completely freaks out about the animals in the photo This year Reyna didn't think they were a necessary addition to the photo. I recall a time just a few years back when Rosie was absolutely terrified of the chicks and bunnies this year she wanted to bring them home.

spring is peeking through..

 my crocus's are starting to bloom, and even tho the weather outside still holds tightly to winter... today the winds are blowing sounding just like a winter storm.. and the temps are certainly more cold than warm... it is always nice to find one small reminder that spring is not too far away..

Puddle jumping

 she is watching as Rosie jumps in the puddles, I of course missed the photo opportunity of her jumping in the same puddle, she didn't like the wet/cold so no amount of encouragement would get her to re-enact her jumping

this one didn't mind about jumping for the camera, this one doesn't mind anything that involves water and mud

Chaos

and so it starts the beginning of the removal process this is the dining room and the carpet is up and the subfloor is coming up, there is still carpet in the living room and see that lovely white stuff...that was a major messy, pain to remove I think my arms continued to mop in my sleep but in the previous post you can see that we did indeed remove it and uncovered some beautiful floors just waiting to be refinished.

I had a bit of a reminisce when we uncovered it and then quickly remembered why we covered it in the first place

 and here is where old, (very very old) meets old and new

the kitchen proved most interesting  with the discovery of three layers of linoleum and of course each layer has it's own subfloor.  Apparently it is vital to use massive amounts of staples or nails or screws to secure each layer since the floor was not going anywhere.  I think if a tornado had struck our home that floor would have remained intact.  The wood underneath needs some patching and piecing but all in all it is in good shape.  

Now that this part of the project is complete we wait for the next...more pictures to come as that develops.

If you give a mouse a cookie...

This favorite picture book of our family's is a bit how my life feels at the moment... the story in the book is if you give a mouse a cookie he is going to want a glass of milk to go with it, and on and on it continues throughout the book.  And how does that play in my life at the moment?  Well it started with a dining room table (that alone is worth a post of it's own) and then the decision to put in hardwood floors, which led to the discovery of the original hardwood floors, and the subsequent uncovering of those floors all.weekend.long (oh the dust and the dirt and the general ewwww this project has presented) to the realization that the walls will need to painted, since removing all those layers of floor will now require the trim to be lowered, and no a nice 1" strip around the perimeter of the room is not part of my styling sense.
So here it is Monday morning, the floors are completely uncovered, and aside from a few spots in the kitchen they are in amazing shape.  A few spots (mostly kitchen) will need to be pieced since currently plywood is filling the area.  Overall it looks good, the contractors will be coming on Monday to begin the refinishing  and hopefully by the end of the week it will be done.  Except for the dusting. Walls are being painted this week so they too will be done before the floor is done, and when all is said and done it will be awesome, and I will have just removed most of the spring cleaning areas from my list...it's just getting there that is stressing me out at the moment.
