Dance Recital

 

 

Spring Dance Recital....each week they spend time at dance class.  Where Mrs Meyer teaches and encourages, builds their skills and confidence.  She is a gift in their lives. She believes in them. Every week she shares her love for dance with energy and enthusiasm.  They are not just learning how to dance they are learning how to believe in themselves.

Track and Field day

                        

 

Friday was the annual Track and Field day for the elementary school.  Under blue skies and warm sunshine they ran, and jumped. Raced and tossed. Laughed and made memories. It was a great way to spend the morning.

When the house woke this morning it came with the reminder that today we officially have another teenager! With her trademark grin and an air of superiority she reminded her youngest siblings that someday they would be teenagers, but not for a long, long time. "She doesn't look any different than she did last night" the youngest said. "She has more attitude" said her brother" "Well I don't see why being a teenager is so special" she responded. "I imagine she will remind us every day" he wisely replied.
I'm quite certain she will fill each day with her definition of what a teenager is...with that quick smile, and bubbly energy, the large dose of sass and mountain of attitude and always the simple understanding of how each day is a gift. They don't realize it now, but they're both pretty lucky to experience life with this newly official teenager as a roll model.

Birthday blessings

 

 

Last night while grocery shopping I paused to look at the cake selection and my youngest asked "Why are we buying a cake?" "It's my birthday tomorrow" i answered and then I watched a jumble of looks cross her face. Surprise, because the girl loves all things birthday. Confusion, because wait mom's have birthdays? Excitement, because cake! And then she asked "How old will you be?" And I answered "tomorrow I will start my 53rd journey around the sun." She then leans close and whispers "that's a very big number." "I know" I whispered back "it's been a very big journey"
Tonight we ate cake, and counted to 53. (It takes 5 sets of hand plus three of my fingers to make 53, who knew my age could be a math lesson for a 1st grader.)Today was sprinkled with birthday wishes from my kids, my family and you..... what a grand start to this new journey around the sun! #birthdaysarefun #blessed

Nature table

A little update for the season to the nature table.  Not too many found treasures from the outdoors just yet, spring proves challenging at first. Started years ago from necessity.... a small child who picked up rocks and sticks on every walk.  Who was determined to bring the outdoors inside. And so I created a space for her to gather theses natural treasures.  She taught her younger sibling about gathering from nature and years later where she is but a step away from her teenage years I will still see her at times playing with this nature space

Wood bowl

A find at a local store...beautifully handcrafted wood bowls made by someone who is from my small town.  Perfect in its simpleness.

Pacer Basketball tournament.

 

 

This girl loves basketball...she was able to extend the season by playing on another team.  So fortunate that she is gifted with an amazing coach and a great group of girls to pkay this game with.

We tried

To do a fire pit..... this lasted for 10 minutes and then nothing but smoke.  Along with the discovery of no marshmallows, no Graham crackers or chocolate made our first fire pit of the season a rather dismal affair.

Circus fun!

 

The circus was in New Ulm a few weeks ago. I took the youngest two and Grandpa Along dornrhe adventure.  I'm not sure who had more fun the lids or Grandpa. I had the best time watching his reactions to all the different acts.
