those apples have been ready for a week or two...I have simply tried to ignore that fact
for as much as I love having apple trees, and love having fresh apples chemical free to eat, and
I truly do enjoy having apples frozen and ready to be baked into something yummy throughout the winter I simply dislike the whole picking and cleaning chopping part of apples. Kevin decided on sunday that it was the day to get this done. I tried to ignore his gung ho attitude I succeeded briefly
and then reality set in and finishing this task become the priority...he would have cheerfully taken days...my organized brain couldn't even start to wrap itself around that prosepect. So with many willing (yes some view this as fun, silly people) and a few not so willing hands we picked cleaned and chopped apples for hours (not days) with the end result of a refrigerator full of 1's (the term given to the best apples thus suitable for just plain eating) and a freezer full of sliced apples for baking. Yes seeing that space in the freezer full did make me smile, knowing there were no chemicals just all natural goodness helped too. So thankful that we have the opportunity to grow our own.
