He wins
He said the card was a winner I kinda blew him off. 5.00 I might have believed but 500 not a chance.
It appears I was wrong....and honestly this time I don't mind being wrong

Sons of the pioneers
Last night Linda and I attended a concert in windom it was a part of the concert association program we joined this year. We agreed when we joined that we would attend every concert offered even if we didn't think it was in our music category.
I have to admit that last night's concert wasn't in my love column and had we not agreed to go to "every" concert the blustery cold night would have been reason enough to stay home.
After dinner at the River City Eatery we headed up the block to the Barq center .....From the first song I was transported back to a time when my biggest worry was how much time I would be able to spend outside. I had recognized the groups name and knew that it would have been a concert my dad would have lived what I didn't expect was the flood of memories those songs brought back to me. Riding in the back seat of the car looking at the stars, listening to my dad singing along to the radio as we drove home from a visit at my grandmas. Standing on the seat in my dad's truck as he drive along country roads hunting whatever animal was in season. The radio playing, his voice singing along. (yes i did say standing these were the days long before car seats or seat belts) Watching tv which was usually on a channel showing my Dads taste in tv viewing. My sister and i didnt have a choice in what show we watched we were simply the channel changers. ( yes this was before the invention of the remote)The songs being performed last night were the songs of my early years, songs I heard time and time again. Songs that were woven into so many early memories. Last night as memory after memory drifted around me with each song I realized what a beautiful gift it was and how powerful music can be.

Valentine's day
opening her valentines with the daycare kids..
can I have one more piece of candy? just one more? please..... pretty sure she said that a half dozen times before she went to bed, thinking she may have even said it in her sleep.
heart shaped pizza from Jakes...we order one every year.
anthony's valentine to me...dr who and the tardis. Love how this kid thinks
sorting thru his valentine's from school...

ear tubes
an unexpected trip to the er with this one the other day...she was tugging on her ear and I wondered if she didn't have an ear infection I peeked at her ear and saw a lot of wax and when I cleaned that up I noted something white and tiny inside her ear canal...I immediately wondered what she had put into her ear...the other ear had the same thing. again I wondered what she had put into her ears...
once kevin got her out to the clinic the doctor wasn't sure at first what it was, and until he removed the first one he too thought it was a bead or something of that nature in her ear...turns out it was her tubes coming out. Of course that makes sense especially when it was both ears...so glad that it was a simple fix.
she was a great patient, no tears and actually a bit curious by what was going on...

Oh dear...
Normally I dislike the habit of retailers to fill their shelves with products for upcoming holidays months before the holiday arrives ....Halloween in july, Christmas in October and so on. Finding these jelly beans on the shelf at shopko a couple of weeks ago actually made my day. Love, love, love these jelly beans.

Birdfeeders
saw this idea on a blog a few days ago and thought it would make an awesome gift for Kevin for Valentine's day. So the morning before valentine's day (note to self one should start sooner when the gift involves freezing water, yes even in the frozen tundra it does take time to solidly freeze something) I pulled out the supplies and then discovered that I only had two colors of food coloring...yellow and blue which let me make three colors total. sigh, this was not going as planned. I filled the balloons with water and food coloring placed them into bowls and plopped them on the porch, well kevin did it was very cold outside. (yes I realize it's uncool to have someone help make their gift, but he had no idea it was a gift) next I filled the pie tins with water and then placed them outside I did actually help with this simply because my explanation of what to do with the bowl and canned vegetables was not being transmitted in a way that made sense I guess. Later that night the kids and I brought the frozen (semi-frozen) balloons and pie tins in and then assembled them in the back yard...bless anthony's heart for being the outdoor person while handed the pieces out the window to him (seriously have I mentioned it 's cold here??) the balloons weren't frozen solid and the green one didn't seem destined to become a bird feeder since I cracked the pie tin part as I tried to remove it and when anthony placed the balloon on the ground the water leaked out the bottom. The next day the daycare kids enjoyed looking at the colorful birdfeeders in the yard.
