Fairy house

Reyna placed this fairy house outside under a shrub, in a protected area
Of our yard. She is hoping that a fairy will move in.
It is fun to watch her excitement as she
Checks each day to see if anything has changed which might indicate t hat a fairy has taken up residence.

Children's theater

Sunday we took the kids to a play at Stages Theater Company.  It was our first time visiting the city of Hopkins and this theater.  The play was One Dog Canoe, based on a children's picture book.  I didn't realize it was also a musical.  After the first song I had a moment of this seems familiar but how can that be? Rosie tapped me on the arm and said "Didn't we hear this song at the library event last week?"  "you know those brothers that we saw"  I peeked  at the program and sure enough the songs were adapted from the music of the Okee Dokee Brothers.  What an unexpected surprise.  The kids had loved the concert we attended and now here was the very same songs in this play. We will definitatly be returning for future plays.  Curious about this theater? you can go here
Reyna enjoyed meeting the cast and getting their autographs.

Wedding reception

A couple of weekends ago we attended a wedding reception for a friend.  There were little beach balls to play with and party crackers that had candy inside and glow sticks!  It was a fun evening spent with family celebrating the marriage of a daycare friend.

Sharpy

"Can we keep it?" she asked  "She can sleep in my bed"
My head was shaking no before she finished her query.
(since she ends up in my bed most nights sharing it with a worm too just isn't going to happen)
"Her name is Sharpy." she said with a big grin.
I reminded her no more pets and when her face fell I suggested that we could take a picture.
"okay!" she said excitedly.  I snapped a photo on m phone "Can I see? please" she asked eagerly. I handed the phone to her and as she looks at the picture she says "ahhhh, look she smiled"
"She did" I asked puzzled "Yes," she said "look right there"  For the sake of not having this conversation go on and on I simply nodded and said "okay"  not sure if she was pointing to the head or the bottom of the worm, actually I'm not quite certain how she knew it was a she.
Later that night, after she had returned the worm to the dirt and was getting ready for her bath she said "I'm sure going to miss that worm"
Don't ever lose that wonder and sense of adventure little one.  I love that about you.

Garage sale day

Today was the annual garage sale event at the New Ulm  Civic Center. I left the house by 7:30 this morning plann ing to arrive when it started at 8.  This was the first time I had attended this and didn't know what to expect. I was quite surprised when I arrived to see every parking lot filled I ended up parking 2 blocks away.

This person was selling these McDonald's beanie babies for .25 each as I picked thru the shoes ky pile grew I just knew Reyna and the daycare kids were going to love these. As she put them in a bag she said how about 5.00 for all? I was speechless.  I Had Thought .25 Was A bargain.

Wooden spools...it is hard to find wood toys for play and those that are available are always quite expensive .. these spools would be perfect for stacking and rolling. W hen I shared what I was going to use them for the lady said you can have all the bags for a 1.00 they had been marked .50 a bag.  I seemed to be scoring all sorts of bargains today.  The seller found me a bit later after I had moved on from her booth she had found some large wooden beads and wondered if I could use them.  I nodded excitedly and then she said "they were in the free box, enjoy!" she said .

Brand new with tags...2.00
the little wonder wearing it was thrilled when she discovered it

Dishes for the outdoor kitchen. All are metal. 10.00 for all of them

Books for the little free library in our yard
.25 each, a few were .10

Scrapbooking paper...30.00
One can never have too much paper

Baskets ...I looked at them for the longest time trying to decide if I should buy them the price was reasonable at 5.00 but I just didn't know what I would use them for.  I continued shopping  and later when I was done with both sides of the center I went back. They were still there I took that as a sign and they came home with me. I also picked up a baby walker for my sister and pants for Pedro.
It was a successful day of garage sale shopping.
