Fairy garden update

Happy Birthday Yahaira!
Today she is 12...how does that happen?
She is determined, and has a dramatic flair that spills energy into even the most mundane moments. Her giggle is contagious and she is fiercely protective of those close to her. She has a giving heart and never gives up. Today we celebrate her birthday! Everyday we celebrate the strong, beautiful person she is. Thank you dear girl for showing us how to live each day for the gift that it is. Happy Birthday Yahaira!
Omelets
She makes the most amazing omelets, I'm really quite jealous of this skill she has. My omelets always turn into scrambled eggs.

Unified relay
Anthony and yahaira volunteered in the unified relay they ran 100m relay with athletes Cassie and Casey. Their team placed 2nd.
400m race
l love this picture and the moment it captured. These are the athletes he ran with. Even tho they were competing against each other when the race was finished they left the field together congratulating each other. He finished 4th in this race and even tho the ribbon was cool he was most excited about the friends he made today
Opening ceremonies
Pedro was chosen to hold the torch during the opening ceremonies. He was pretty excited.
Special Olympics region 9 event
May 1st, 2016
Held at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Today we spent the day in St Peter attending the Special Olympics field event. Pedro participated in 3 events and Anthony and Yahaira volunteered at a unified relay event. This was Pedro's first year participating and it was an amazing experience for him. He jumped, and threw and ran ("like the wind" he told me, after watching him I'd say the wind could barely keep up) today for the first time he experienced what it felt like to be a part of a team. He grinned all afternoon. I watched time and time again as these athletes shook hands and encourage each other. It was one of the most positive, uplifting experiences I've ever been privileged to see.
